Since 2001, SkyART has used free visual arts programming as a vehicle for young people to create, to communicate effectively, and to learn the essential skills and creative thinking needed to succeed. Current programs are organized around four essential areas; Studio Programs, School Programs, Community Programs, and Professional & Service Opportunities. All programs work in tandem, sharing resources and building a creative community between and across the various locations where they are conducted.
- Studio Programs take place exclusively at the SkyART facility and are designed to engage a broad range of participants with distinct needs and levels of expertise, incorporating step level classes, drop-in studio opportunities, cultural field trips, and advanced opportunities for high-school students who see the arts as a catalyst in their future.
- School Programs take place in our growing network of partnering schools on Chicago’s South Side and provide Teaching Artists for residencies, reaching thousands of students annually through after-school and arts integration programming. The program incorporates artist residencies, after-school classes, classroom teacher arts integration training sessions, parent workshops, and Advancement in the Arts opportunities.
- Community Programs take place at facilities and events coordinated by partnering community organizations and range from 1-day workshops to multi-week art courses. Varying in shape, size and duration, all of our Community Programs maintain the same high quality instruction and content that define our Studio and School Programs.
- Professional and Service Opportunities offer a number of opportunities for our students and interested community members to get involved with our organization and/or to advance professionally, including internships and volunteer opportunities.
