We are also thrilled to announce a new, year-long program kicked off in the fall along with the SkyWAY. Project 3rd Space is for teens who are serious about art and see it as a pathway into their future. The program is meant to be both a crucial bridge between high school and meaningful post-secondary educational and career opportunities and also an opportunity for self-discovery, communication, and collaboration. Working with a dedicated group of talented and motivated teens (ages 15-17) in weekly 4-hour open studio sessions is truly a dream come true for us. Gathering each Saturday, we play, we reflect, we build – we prepare and eat a SkyART-cooked meal – we go deep on technical skills and wide on perspectives – we make things and take things apart – we do art… together! We believe Project 3rd Space will enhance the lives of our gifted young adults, and we are already seen a big impact after only half a year.

Project 3rd Space runs at both SkyART Studios and the UChicago Arts Incubator and reaches 46 young people each week. The program will culminate in June with an exhibition of student work at SkyART’s 3rd Space Gallery, this June.

The application period for Project 3rd Space 2018-19 will open in May.
